El flamenco, un estilo nacido, se cree, en la Andalucía del siglo XVIII, aunque no se conoce del todo su origen. Tras la Guerra de Independencia en 1812 se impone en la sociedad española un fuerte sentimiento de orgullo racial y es en ese ambiente donde se impone la moda cañí: la eclosión de las escuelas taurinas de Ronda y Sevilla, el auge del bandolerismo y la fascinación por lo andaluz manifestado por los viajeros románticos europeos, fueron conformando el costumbrismo andaluz, que triunfó en la corte madrileña. El flamenquismo, definido por la Real Academia Española como la "Afición a las costumbres flamencas o achuladas", es un cajón de sastre conceptual donde caben el cante flamenco y la afición a los toros, entre otros elementos castizos españoles.
Flamenco, a style born, it is believed, in the eighteenth century in Andalusia (South of Spain), although its origin is not completely known. After the War of Independence in 1812 in Spanish society imposes a strong sense of racial pride, and it is in this environment where gypsy fashion prevails: the emergence of bullfighting schools in Ronda and Seville, the rise of banditry and fascination of the Andalusian romantic travelers were shaped the Andalusian customs, which triumphed in the Madrid Court. The Flamenquismo, defined by the Royal Spanish Academy as the "taste for customs flamencas or pimp" is a catchall concept which fit the flamenco and bullfighting aficionados, among other things pure Spanish.
